Mtn Bike 2:38:04 intensity: (4:06 @1) + (8:31 @2) + (57:08 @3) + (43:39 @4) + (44:40 @5) 36.93 km (14.0 kph) +202m

Decided before to start that the to bonus paddle controls would take close to 20 mins for 3 km to get a 20 min bonus so didn't go for them, looks like tRicky took an extra 17mins to get them so no doubt well worth he's 3 min net bonus.

Anyway I couldn't keep up with Ameko despite being on Tash's tipsy ski and Lesa was only just behind me getting to 3. Managed to stay not two far behind Ameko for the rest of the paddle, I think he got off the ski about 40 seconds ahead of me, but he got away from transition a lot quicker as did Saz who wasn't far behind in the paddle.

Caught back up to Saz at the commentary tower and she probably got away from TA2 quicker than me with her flat peddle tactic. Then I didn't notice the bridge at the far end up the island till I passed going the other way and he commented on my route choice look like I went 850m further then tRicky so that was a big stuff up.

Back on the bike, got a banana out of my pack but it was a bit far gone. Lots of little gazebos before getting to the big one at 21. Slight premature detour on the way to 22. Missed the quick way out of 22 that tRicky took, perhaps he knows that area to well. Went round the back of the power station which worked out nicely avoiding the grassy accent.

Screwed up on the way to 25 deciding I should be following a road all the way to the control instead of the bike path, so stuffed around in some back streets letting Saz and Paul Tilbrook get in front of me. Caught Paul on the way to the last bike control and smashed past him after the control to try to get a gap heading into transition since he was another flat peddler.

Went barefoot out of transition to try not to waste time and was right on Pauls shoulder but he slowly got away as I tip toed along, caught him at the 2nd control as he veered of the pain full limestone track, still regretting going barefoot for the next few controls but at least some of it was on fresh smooth road surface, eventually decided I need to get the shoes on to have any hope of catch Saz who was not far ahead, with Paul gettiing further away. Quick stop to get the shoes on and I caught Saz at the next control and past her on the way to the last, but Paul was to far ahead too catch.

HR looks like it went nuts on the final run leg probably something to do with the chest strap slipping down to my waist.

Thanks to Tooms and BB for another great race, pity I couldn't fully exploit tRicky's loss of SI tag.

Tempting to do Albany now, maybe on an old or borrowed bike to keep mine pristine for South Africa .. unless I manage to get the kids for the weekend before I go away.

Running (Matilda Bay) 30:33 [3] 5.72 km (5:20 / km) +9m 5:18 / km
shoes: Adidas Supernova Glide 5M Blac

Still sick and getting very sick of horrible traffic, managed to eventually drag myself out of bed earlier enough for the traffic to only be crap, not completely *@$% crap.

So just a short easy run along the river. Got a stitch about 10 mins into the run and didn't feel great after that but at least the legs were feeling OK.
