Rogaine race 23:45:00 [3] *** 84.0 km (16:58 / km)
spiked:50/50c shoes: Salomon XT Wings 2

Headed north on the map and had a good first 6 hours with no real issues, change of gear at dusk and found night time before moon rise quite tricky, missed 44 as was quite a broad saddle to find at night then had some issues with a road not seeming to be on the map coming down to the main highway, but managed to work our way up to the top of the knoll to 97. Had a really good period from midnight to six keeping up a consistent pace without having to rush. Decided to change our planned course so include less km's and more points for the trip home, ended up going a bit far right on our way back from 84, so cut out one more cp and just picked up 51 and 32 on the way home as didn't want the stress of coming in late. Ended up coming in with 15 mins to spare. Need to take out new batteries i/o just rechargables for the Apex, might need a half size bigger shoe to deal with swelling feet in the rain but had no issues with blisters which was good. Clothes were fine, need to cut the top of compression socks as nearly lost circulation, red jacket under gortex kept me toasty all night. Food was fine, might need to take out more savory next time started getting really over shots etc by 6am, grain waves were the hit of the night. Janet was a fantastic partner, we seem to go at a pretty similar pace and it was probably the most relaxed rogaine I have done even though it was my highest score of 3370 and highest placing of 5th so very happy with that. Was a great course and nice that the tent dried out for me to pack up on Sunday. Thanks Andre for driving home just in time for me to pack and get to the airport to fly out to the US...good way to recover, sleep for 35 hrs in business class :)
