Saturday Mar 31

Note
Just a short run, Allison Park. 1/2 marathon.
Running race 1:41:20 [4] 21.1 km (4:48 / km) +150m 4:38 / km vdot: 44.4
Good race, new PB. Left foot went numb around mile 5 but then it released after a few miles - don't know when exactly. Pushed the pace in the last mile very nicely.

Wednesday Mar 28

Running 53:00 [2] 9.7 km (5:28 / km) +200m 4:57 / km
I felt slightly sluggish in the beginning and had some pains in my legs, so I stopped and stretched my legs for about a minute (something which I almost never do). I was so surprised about how good I felt immediately afterwards. However, about 2 k before the end of my run (I was contekmplating adding another 3-4 k to it), my left foot started going numb. Strangely enough, this time it was not preceded by the pain on the side of my shin, so I don't know what to think now. It is not like it bothers me so much, it just feels very unusual.

Monday Mar 26

Running 26:00 [3] 4.9 km (5:18 / km) +100m 4:49 / km
Warm, no wind, very summery feeling. Had no problems with feet or the sides of the shins (which is what hurts before feet go numb).

Sunday Mar 25

Note
WPOC meet at Camp Seph Mack
Orienteering race 46:49 [3] 5.14 km (9:06 / km) +195m 7:39 / km
Excellent weather, a very relaxed run. Feet did not go numb, so I will keep experimenting.

Orienteering 30:00 [2] 3 km (10:00 / km) +120m 8:20 / km
Picking up the controls.

Saturday Mar 24

Note
NEOOC meet at Boston Run
Orienteering race 50:12 [3] *** 4.9 km (10:15 / km) +185m 8:37 / km
spiked:7/12c
An ok run, minor problems with orienteering, slightly bigger problems with my shape and immense problems getting up and especially down the muddy hills. Was enjoying it until 2 controls from the end when both my feet went numb - i was feeling lke i was running on my stumps. It is the second time this has happened to me in the last two weeks. I the same happens in tomorrow's meet, i will have to go to see a doctor.

Saturday Mar 17

Note
Shamrock Shuffle 5k, Hopewell High School.
Running warm up/down 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi) +30m 5:41 / km
Running race 23:01 [5] 5 km (4:36 / km) +100m 4:11 / km
I had not realized that "fast, rolling course" is shorthand for "you will have to ascend and descend the Everest three times within a span of 5k race". Otherwise felt good, except that the slush on the road made me take it easier on the downhills.

Friday Mar 16

Thursday Mar 8

Cross-country skiing 55:00 [3] 10.6 km (5:11 / km) +300m 4:33 / km
Went out to ski on a really gorgeous day with perfect snow (10 according to Mr. Sf's scale). Did the first two laps...

Cross-country skiing 25:00 [4] 5.3 km (4:43 / km) +150m 4:08 / km
...then met one of the local skiers, who suggested that we "ski together", which involved me going all out to try and keep up with him. On top of that, his glide was better than mine (or he just might be a bit heavier).
Cross-country skiing 41:00 [2] 7.4 km (5:32 / km) +180m 4:56 / km
Then I finished the outing with a much more relaxed-pace skiing on my own. A really wonderful day (if I discount getting behind with my work).

Sunday Mar 4

Running warm up/down 10:00 [1] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
To start and around the start.
Orienteering race 2:17:16 [3] **** 13.78 km (9:58 / km) +380m 8:45 / km
ahr:171 spiked:7/17c
Long race of the Team Fundraiser. I was physically not ready for this. My RACE ended at 11th control of 17 and after it was a struggle to survive the fatigue, blisters, hills and everything else. Defiinitely a learning experience and I am committed to train before I go to the next A-meet.

Sunday: Blue M21 - Splits

Saturday Mar 3

Running 20:00 [1] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi) +20m 6:02 / km
Warmed up quite diligently.
Orienteering race 54:57 [4] **** 5.26 km (10:27 / km) +205m 8:45 / km
ahr:180 spiked:9/17c
WRE middle distance race at the Team Fundraiser. Not my best performance ever but a lot of it is my complete lack of any physical shape whatsoever. Made about 3-4 minutes of mistakes but lost close to 10 minutes due to physicality of the course. I caught the guy who started 6 minutes ahead of me at control 7, let him go at control 9 and in the end he beat me by 4 minutes. Thus, at least 10 minutes lost physically. Mentally I was ok for my lack of orienteering experience in recent years. I certainly enjoyed the course, map, event and - even more so - the weather.

M21 WRE Blue - Splits

Friday Mar 2

Event: BOK/US Team Umstead 007

Orienteering race 22:23 [4] *** 2.59 km (8:39 / km) +75m 7:33 / km
ahr:184 spiked:7/12c
Sprint race in Umstead. Got to the start very late, started with no warm-up and in my road running shoes. Had three catastrophical errors (2 mins to 4, 2 mins to 7 and 40 sec to 12) plus a few smaller bobbles. Not a good race by any means. It was fun though.
Running warm up/down 30:00 [2] 3.2 mi (9:23 / mi) +70m 5:27 / km
Promptly proceeded to get lost right after finish and it took me 3 miles (instead of what I suppose should have been 0.5 miles or so) to get back to the parking.

Long Sprint - Splits
