Running 49:45 [3] 9.7 km (5:08 / km) +10m 5:06 / km
ahr:163 shoes: White Asics II

Felt really good, even running against wind on the way back. My watch thinks that my maxhr was 206, which is unlikely.

Running 41:22 [3] 8.1 km (5:06 / km) +10m 5:05 / km
ahr:164 max:176 shoes: Asics grey

Not as good feeling as yesterday, but some exercise done.

Running 40:52 [3] 8.1 km (5:03 / km) +10m 5:01 / km
ahr:169 max:181 shoes: White Asics II

Very nice weather. Quite hard effort, but not unpleasantly so. Definitely felt soreness from Saturday - my legs don't like hills.

Event: WCOC DU-O #1

Orienteering race 2:04:11 [3] *** 10.3 km (12:03 / km) +615m 9:17 / km
ahr:159 max:180 spiked:18/20c shoes: Falcon

WCOC Du-O meet in Tarrywile Park in Danbury, CT. A very hilly course with not very difficult orienteering, but I still managed to make a 3 minute mistake and a 15 second hesitation. Not sure of my choice of the order for taking the controls, especially at the end. All in all it was a very good first orienteering session of the year.

Running 40:39 [3] 8.0 km (5:05 / km) +10m 5:03 / km
ahr:168 max:175 shoes: Asics grey

A hard effort again but much better speed. There were billions of runners out today, so there was always somebody to try to catch.

Running 50:39 [3] 9.7 km (5:13 / km) +20m 5:10 / km
ahr:162 max:176 shoes: White Asics II

Very hard work for an exceptionally mediocre speed.

Running 49:30 [3] 9.7 km (5:06 / km) +10m 5:05 / km
ahr:162 max:174 shoes: Asics grey

A positively negative split - 25.15 out and 24.15 back. A little bit of help from the wind though.

Running long 2:38:02 [2] 29.7 km (5:19 / km) +275m 5:05 / km
ahr:157 max:178 shoes: White Asics II

Celebrated my birthday with a long run. Felt a bit too long, especially taking into account yesterday's celebration with excessive amounts of sake. But I did finish and I survived.

Thursday Mar 6, 2008 #

Running 48:39 [3] 9.7 km (5:01 / km) +20m 4:58 / km
ahr:163 max:173 shoes: White Asics II

Seems like my legs wanted a break because I had absolutely no desire to run for the last three days. Today I felt like running and felt strong while doing so. Shorts weather is back in town.

Sunday Mar 2, 2008 #

Running long 2:13:52 [2] 25.7 km (5:13 / km) +200m 5:01 / km
ahr:161 max:176 shoes: Asics grey

A long solo run. Took the subway to 72nd street, ran one long loop around Central Park, one shorter loop with the northern hill taken out and ran home via riverside. Took energy gel at 1:30 and could really feel it helping. In fact it helped so much that the last 4-5 km felt rather easy - i mean i was tired, but i didn't feel like my legs had absolutely no spring left in them. Ran with camelback.

Saturday Mar 1, 2008 #

Running 37:19 [3] 7.2 km (5:11 / km) +60m 4:59 / km
ahr:167 max:180 shoes: White Asics II

Ran in the Central Park with a friend. Slightly faster than planned but felt ok, especially in the last few kilometers.
