Orienteering warm up/down 19:25 [1] *** 2.6 km (7:28 / km) +25m 7:08 / km
ahr:144 max:166 spiked:2/3c shoes: Falcon
Warm-up on the way to the start of the 2nd day. Used a warm-up map, where had no problems with 2 controls and never found the third. Should have known it was not a good sign.
Orienteering race 2:39:55 [3] **** 14.2 km (11:16 / km) +310m 10:09 / km
ahr:158 max:180 spiked:19/29c shoes: Falcon
WRE day. Disaster. 28 minutes in mistakes and pretty much walked the last 1/4 of the course because I had given up. Twice I tried to run with someone else who had caught up with me and twice I ended up in mistakes of 4 and 5 minutes. I wonder what I should learn from that...
The same vague vegetation, which was driving me mad plus some crazy uphills, which sapped the little energy I had left. Pathetic performance.

Event: 3 Days of Belgium 2008

Running warm up/down 9:45 [1] 1.8 km (5:25 / km) +10m 5:16 / km
ahr:150 max:167 shoes: Falcon
Warm-up on the way to the start.
Orienteering race 2:01:01 [4] **** 12.7 km (9:32 / km) +215m 8:47 / km
ahr:170 max:192 spiked:13/29c shoes: Falcon
The first day of the Belgian 3-days. It definitely showed that I was orienteering the third time this year. I count roughly 23 minutes in mistakes, many of which could have been easily avoided. I cannot say that I agree with the rather vague mapping of the vegetation, the understanding of which was crucial in minimizing the mistakes because there simply were no other points of reference. Was really looking forward to each drinking station, which luckily there were plenty. My brain switched off after the spectator control about 3/4 of the course around and I made half of my mistakes in the last quarter. Still placed relatively decently for my own standards.

Thursday May 8

Running 54:25 [3] 10.5 km (5:11 / km) +50m 5:04 / km
ahr:166 max:178
Early morning start of the loooong holiday weekend run. Despite the earliness it was already pretty hot.

Tuesday May 6

Running 40:19 [4] 8 km (5:02 / km) +40m 4:55 / km
ahr:164 max:181 shoes: White Asics II
Definitely a faster run than intended. Started racing a guy 7 minutes in and then just couldn't slow down and then I decided that since it did not feel too bad I would keep it up until the end.
