Rehabbing the knee is mostly just stretching which I haven't normally logged. Nonetheless, it seems to make sense to account for the number of times I go through the routine (recommended is three per day). So,
Knee surgery last Friday was apparently a success. The doctor told me as I was coming to that there was a lot more "junk" in there than he had anticipated, but that he had been able to "smooth it all out" effectively. On the other hand, he told my wife (and not me - at least as far as I can remember) that there was a lot more arthritis in there than he expected for a person my age and that I was getting closer to "bone on bone" than he would have thought. He said that I was probably going to need a full knee replacement down the road. We'll hear what he has to say tomorrow when I go for the post-op check-up.
As for getting around. I'm using the crutches for long walks, but not for short stuff (around the room, etc.) Right now the leg just above the knee is still so swollen that I can't really bend it all the way. I think that's a moot point since I think it would hurt to do so.
No swimming today as driveway was snowed in. Instead I had to ski the roads to work. Difficult on my knee, difficult to keep the bottoms of my skis clean, and difficult to pole on pavement. Still, it was interesting. Here's hoping we get plowed out so that I don't have to make the return trip in the dark after lab this afternoon!
