Running 49:25 [3] 4.7 mi (10:31 / mi)

Along the beach in Kona, HI on Christmas morning while trying to shake off jet lag. The route I ran included part of the World Ironman Triathlon route; later in the week I swam a bit of the swim and drove (didn't have a bike and wouldn't have cared) most of the biking route. Great vacation, but this was th only thing worth logging. With a tip of the hat to Bash, there may be a photo coming...

YardWork (Snow shovelling) 20:00 [3]

Shoveled the back and then decided to listen to the end of the Bonnies game on the radio. Came in with Bonaventure leading by three with 90 seconds to go. Went back outside to finish the front (in the dark) over an hour later as the game went to 4 (yes, four) overtimes.

YardWork (Okay, really moving stuff) 2:00:00 [1]

Unloading and storing canned goods at the Warming House's new location. Thanks to St. Joe's School from Buffalo, we got over 25,000 cans of food; and thanks to the Olean Planning Board finally showing some conscience and some backbone, we got to unload it at the soon-to-be new location.

Of course, I hit my head repeatedly on the exposed beam in the storage area and now have two good welts to help prove that I was there.

YardWork (Snow shovelling) 52:00 [3]

Almost two feet off the deck; odd amounts off the eaves - the drifting had caused 3-foot hangovers in some places; less off the walks as Theresa had cleaned them Wednesday.
4 PM

YardWork 13:00 [2]

Ice chipping and "eave cleaning" on the west side (now sunny) of the house.

Racquetball 35:00 [2]

Payne

15-2 (like it looks)
Trailed 0-4, 4-8, 7-8 and then lost 9-15. Yikes!
Trailed 4-7, won 11-7.

Cardio (Recumbent Elliptical) 23:00 [3]

Still learning how to use this one...

Weights 28:00 [3]

Leg Press machine was down, so slightly short workout...

Handball 45:00 [3]

Singles against Danny (younger, quicker, and skilled, but still a bit rusty after a layoff)

Work made me late and I hurried warmups. Didn't really get into the first game and trailed 0-13, feeling that every shot "hurt" and that Danny was really on. At 1-15, I thought I got a reset, but we were playing to 21. I set a goal of playing him even for the rest of the game and almost made it, losing 6-21.

Started serving well in second game and led 14-4 before he came back to make it 14-12. Then I went on another run and won 21-12.

Third game was very close for the first few points (lots of non-scoring rallies). Eventually, Danny tired and I was able to take advantage, pulling ahead 19-7. Then I tired (or relaxed a bit) before winning 21-13.

12 PM

YardWork (Snow shovelling) 20:00 [2]

Cleaning the walkways and the deck; the former for impending guests and the latter to get at the grill and smoker to cook for said guests.

12 PM

Running 29:01 [3] 5.0 km (5:48 / km)

Wanted to do a bit over three to complete my "Campus Ironman". The catch was that my regular 3-mile loop was largely under water since the Allegany River is flooding at historic (but not record) levels. So, I ran the Bonaventure Polar Bear course. Footing was mostly fine, but the sidewalk sections featured some snow and some "frozen slush" footprints causing me to go gingerly through those sections.

Racquetball 35:00 [1]

Payne

15-1, 15-5, 11-3. Score says it all.

Cardio (Treadmill) 25:00 [3]

Slowly learning; started the speed artificially slow and then sped up every time the random hills went "flat". Total workout was about 90-100% of previous ones (depending upon your metric; distance/climb/calories/etc.) without the awful feeling of starting cold.
