Temple Ridge course. Goals were (at first) to beat last year's time (shouldn't be an issue as it was quite slow), break 45 minutes, and set a new PR (old was 41:59). Then I saw that the season leader was 40:50. 40:49 seemed a bit much, but I noticed that I was gaining about five seconds a mile on my ghost. Hmmm. Times 13.5 miles would be a 67 second improvement; could I find three more seconds. I went full puke-fest mode and with five miles to go, knew that I could do it if I could just "sustain". Didn't feel real sure until the last two minutes, but I got it by a good bit! Top 15% overall and age group. Took back the Y record (had been second) out of nine riders. P:235; C:57.
