Sardinia Forest Score-O
Three-hour limit would normally be enough to clean the course. Points were distributed in accordance with geography, so goal was to clear the southern two-thirds in two hours and then work on the hill, leaving #4, #8, #12, and #22 if necessary (in that order). I chose to go counter-clockwise as I thought that attacking 24 from 25 was the best plan.
Leaving #7, I started for #9 and then changed my mind and went to #10, with the indecision costing me time, but less than continuing to #9 would have. I went from #23 to #14/#18, but in retrospect, I should have gotten those two after #25, resulting in more trail running on one of the few dry trails. I got to #25 (southern end) in 65 minutes, so close to "on time".
Coming back, I was unsteady (expected) to #24 and made a poor decision at #15 leaving the muddy trail too early and not being able to attack off the corner of the trail later. Otherwise I was clean, but slow to both #17 and #1 as I was tiring. I crossed the road at about 127 minutes, so again, pretty close to "on time".
I blew #6 by leaving the trail early for the clearing, but the "swamp in a clearing" was really a "pond in a forest" and that cost me a bit of time. I lost time falling in the mud on the next leg (#16) and climbing the hill directly (#5). When I reached #13, I figured that seven minutes a control the rest of the way (and that's a huge buffer for the run-in) was good and #22 was the only tough one remaining. I thought I spiked it, but "no go". I turned up the sap line and hit the trail, and came back in only to find that the "sap line" was not the feature on which the control was hung; it was on the water pipe. Lost time here and had to hurry. John Boland caught me here and ran past me to #12, but he overshot and was coming in from the other side when I got there. He beat me by a bit to #8 and then really took off. At this point, I knew I had the "sweep" in the bag and dialed it back a bit before finishing with just under seven minutes to spare.
Fifth overall, last of the "on time" sweepers. [Watch track includes about fourteen minutes of hanging out at the finish before I stopped the track.]

Control Pickup for Sardinia Score-O
I was going to sweep the northern set, but #6 and #4 were gone when I got there; I found out that Doug and Jackie had gotten them. Forgot to turn my watch on until I got to the first flag.
