Kandersteger Volksskilauf 21 km masstart - my first xc-race longer than 15 km and my first xc-race in a couple of years. Started out fast in order to get a good position in the group, and found my position some meters behind the fastest woman of my starting block. Tried to keep calm and not stress for the first out of two loops (the 1st a bit longer than the 2nd), I managed this well, and I also took time to drink at every drink station. At the end of the 1st loop I pasted the woman who had been infront of me for a long time, and we stayed together until she had to change her stick just before the end of the 1st loop. I gained some small meters to her, but not much and the speakers said that we were fighting for the 3rd and 4th position among all women (two women started in the first block). I tried to keep the speed and continue pushing forward without stressing, and I kept my distance to the girl behind me (20-30m), and started catching the men starting in block 1 and had company from some men from the same starting block. When it was just 3 km to go, the other girl accelerated and with about 1 km to go she past me. I tried my best to follow her, but she was a bit stronger, and I had to give some meters in the final climb. Down to the finish I could not close the gap and she took home the overall 3rd position and I was 4th. In my category I came 3rd.

The long xc-race was fun and eventhough the best woman was 7:23 min ahead of me (she has a bronze medal from jr world champs in xc), I was satisfied with my race. And I am definitly going to participate in more long xc-races!

Masstart with 3 forked rounds. Heavy legs due to agility training yesterday, and a couple of mistakes, but overall good technical performance.

The plan was to run 4x3min + 3x4min with 90sec breaks. In the 2nd intervall I got side stitch and fighted with it untill it got too painful in the end of the 1st 4min interval. I had to stoppe, and after 15min walking/jogging it was better and I ran about 10min in a 4min/km pace. A bit amputated interval session but not so bad with a total of 26 min fast.
