WOC selection race long distance in Høydalsmo.

In general a very good and controlled race all the way. But I did search control 2, 3 and 4 for 1 minute each loosing a total of 3 min in the beginning of the race. Additionally, I took a very bad routechoise to the 9th and didn't manage to do a good technical performance to the control eihter and lost 3 min to best split. Also the route to 8th and to 12th control was suboptimal. I came to the finish in new best time and managed to stay in lead until Sabine and Tone came. 3rd position is good and my best performance in norway this year, but eventough I was happy with that I was a bit nerved that I once again lost important time on the long leg of the long distance as so many times before. Anyway, a very good day in beatiful terrain with a good result!

As 2nd best on the long distance and on the sprint - I feel like my chances are even a bit better than after the sprint alone. Eventough I think I would have needed to win the long distance - maybe even clearly to be able to get a start position in the long distance at WOC - but time will show.

WOC selction race sprint in Vikersund

Started controlled, buthesitated to the first control - didn't understand the control description. To the 2nd control I used time to decide the next leg, and law 10 sec behind at control nr 2. To the 3rd I choose the wrong routechoise loosing 15 seconds to fastest split, and I am 25 sec (!) behind after 3 contols. 4th to 6th I run well with good splits taking in some seconds. To the 7th I choose the easier but a bit slower route choice and loose 6 seconds. 7th to 9th I run good and fast, to the 10th I run too fare and have to turn back - loosing only 5 sec to best split, but the mistake was bigger. To the 11th I again take the wrong route choice loosing more than 10 seconds again - now I am 42 seconds behind (!). The last part I run well, but I don't see the best route to the 14th and because of that also not to the 16th, but the others do bigger mistakes in this part ( not all but many), and I am able to climb up to the 2nd position in the finish!

Not satisfied with my routechoises especially to the 3rd control, but also to the 11th, and also not with the mistake to control 10. The rest of the race was good, and I didn't get stressed by the fact that I saw that both Anne Johanne and Heidi M ran faster than me in the beginning. Satisfied with the 2nd position and feel like I have put myself good into the discussion for sprint at WOC

Orienteering race 38:00 [4]

WOC selection race middle distance - hot day (28 degrees), no wind, sandy.

Did not feel very nervous, eventhough I was unsure how I was standing towards the other. Put focus to my self and tried to run safe and fast. I ran as fast as I felt I could, still loosing 15 sec to control number 1 without doing anymistake. Same story to the 2nd control - I didn't realize if I was fast or slow at that moment, but I felt it was tough physically and I felt the dry hot weather. To the 3rd I had full control until I managed to pass the control under it withouth seeing it, and having to return - a bit less than a minute lost. To the 4th it was a tough uphill, but saw Helen Palmer infront of me, and stayed positive. At the 6th we entered the flat area of the terrain and we got some water to drink. I was really tired at the moment and out of oxygen - struggeling to drink at all. Make a mistake to the 7th, which a lot of runners did, by thinking I run in the depression on the map, but I run in a depression which is very clear in the terrain but not at all on the map (?!!) loosing valuable time again. To the 8th I am so scared of not finding the small path, that I ran like a beginner in a big loop. Loose some time into the 8th control as well. After that I run well technically, but I have to fight very hard to put one foot infront of the other and to actully read the map. I don't know last time I was that tired during a compitition and after a compitition, but hoped it meant I had been running fast - it didn't.

16th position, 6 minutes behind - and the dream of running WOC middle drifted out of reach. Why I went from being in very good shape the week before to be running slow on higher pulse than ever before, is unclear to me. I think it mostly was the heat - which came from one day to the other, maybe a mixture of nerves as well? Anyway - not even close to what I had hoped for and what I think I can perform.
