Kayaking 2:52:51 [3] 21.77 km (7:56 / km)
nice sunny day - new river : Hay Creek (starting at the Rock Dam County park just below the dam . Fast flow from recent rains (Channey bridge gage was at 6' up from 4' 2 days before) . Portaged left at the 4' high falls about 250 meters below the dam. Many tress in the water along Hay Creek- mostly only partially blocking the river. One totally blocking with fast strainer flow under it so had to be very careful getting out and around it. Gradient about 17 feet per mile for Hay Creek , SFork of Eau Claire about 3 feet per mile
Flow on the S Fork of the Eau Claire was quite fast also ; flow from the N fork seemed rather low . Neillsville Black River flow was 1110 cfs .
No-one on the river ; saw a number of herons . Sand bars were numerous and large . Nice riffles most of the way .

Kayak Bike shuttle - sandy sections were tough (along canoe landing road- heavy rain seemed to wash lots of very soft sand in). Nice boost from following wind
