| CP0 AR -continued- Finally started down the mountain about midnight. What should have been a glorious descent from 3800 ft turned into a 2 hr slow slog down the rockiest road known to mankind. Every time I got brave and let off the brakes alittle bit I ended up airborn and on my back after being stopped by the untimely meeting of a very large rock.
Transitioned to trek about 3 AM and started back up that damn mountain. Got to the top about 7 AM and swung down and out to pick up 2 more cps and head in to finish at 11. Not a perfect race by any means. I bonked about 8 PM Sat night and took an extra 15 min to recharge, Charlie hit the wall at about 4 AM and we towed for a while till he recharged. This multi-day stuff is definately not for the faint at heart. |

| CP0 AR in North GA mountains. This was our first 24+ AR and we did better than expected. Steadily moving up from about 40th at the start of the paddle to finishing somewhere in the top 15. We think maybe 2nd in the Masters behind Action-Learning.com.
Very tough course compared to the two 8 hr sprints the team has done. Not difficult Nav (except for cp13) but meant to drain your energy and think hard about your training program. We spent 4 1/2 hrs on the water, transitioned to bikes for a short ride to begin an "orienteering" leg. Again th "O" was not difficult just 3 points miles and miles apart where fatigue was more of a factor than Nav. (3 1/4 hrs) Then what was the hardest leg for me, the biking up and up and up the mountains with one very quick, very short down hill only to start up again. The only brief respite was spending 2 hrs with 20 other teams in the rhododendrons at cp 13. |
