Orienteering race 1:04:07 [3] 5.79 km (11:04 / km) +90m 10:16 / km

Another item checked off the list. I went to QOC's event at Seneca Creek State Park today, mainly to see how it felt in the woods. I did the Brown course because it was only 3.6 km and the jump to Green was quite large...6.2 km. Plus, I'm 55 now, so Brown is actually my real course.

And I'm happy to report that everything went quite great. I even ran a bit of it...a very tiny bit. And I could lift my left leg; I didn't have to do my Quasimodo shuffle. And going downhill was not painful! Toward the end, my knee was getting a little sore, I think just from its first big outing, but overall, I'm very happy. My navigation was also fine except for #6. I couldn't match up all of the disc golf stations and there was an extra path that was not mapped.

I came home took an 800 mg. Motrin and iced for about an hour, so we'll see how it feels tomorrow. Although, I just took Annie for a longish walk through the woods towards Lake Fairfax, and I felt fine. We had a bit of excitement when 3 deer ran across the path right in front of us. Annie didn't know what to do, so she froze and just watched them run away. Then she turned to look at me, as if to say, "WTF???"
