Orienteering 1:32:30 [4]*** 8.77 km (10:33 / km) +310m 8:58 / km
This day started out very badly. I drifted too far right on my way to #1, but had my map folded so I didn't see the fields to the far east of the control, just the ones closer to the control. I tried to match things up and it wasn't working very well. Finally, I opened my map and said "Aha, now I know where I am." But, a little too late. I had miscellaneous problems with a few more controls early in the course, but felt very fine for the last third or so. The good news, as always, is that I was still moving fairly well for the entire course, never feeling tired or with dead legs. That is a bit of progress. Now I just have to get my navigational skills back.

Note
So, I found out that the person I was running with yesterday was none other than Phil Bricker, infamous running partner of Peter "The G" Gagarin. I was talking to Phil in the parking lot after the race today and commented that I had some trouble with the footing during Saturday's race. He remarked that yes, indeed, he had noticed that I fell *quite* often and was wondering if I didn't have some sort of issue with my inner ear that made it near impossible for me to stay on my feet. How embarrassing!

Orienteering race 54:53 [4]*** 4.7 km (11:41 / km) +125m 10:18 / km
A raw and chilly day...yum! This day went fairly well as soon as I realized that I really shouldn't be relying too heavily on the map and just use compass and pacing to get me in the general vicinity. I didn't have any major goofs, just a few bearings that were a bit off. I did have a problem with falling, though, and unfortunately, I was running with someone else for a bit of the race, and he witnessed some massive clumsiness.

Swimming 52:10 [2]1.8 km (28:59 / km)
Haven't been in the pool for awhile, and didn't think I'd get another chance this week. Felt a little tired, mostly in the arms. But not too bad.

Running (Road) 28:10 [3]3.0 mi (9:23 / mi)
I was running late this morning, so only had time for a short run through the neighborhood. Wish I could have gone longer because it was a beautiful morning...cool and sunshiney. The best part was that I had absolutely no soreness or any aches and pains from all of the weekend's orienteering. Very good news.

Note
Travel day from Athens, OH, after visiting with Mitch Bentley and his family. It was very nice to see him after about 15 years. He hadn't changed very much at all.
