Power Yoga 40:00 [1]
A combination of being tired and having too many chores to do led to an evening session of power yoga. It felt really good.

Running 33:52 [3]
I decided that I needed to work on my speed a bit, so I'm going to try to incorporate some track workouts into my routine. Plus, I was inspired by peggyd. So, I drove to the library, which is a nice warm-up/cool down distance from the track. On the way to the track, I passed some mimosa trees and had to stop and sniff. I know many people consider mimosas to be weed trees, but they are among my favorites. The smell of the flower, while brushing it across my cheek, transports me immediately back to my childhood. I can close my eyes and just imagine that I am standing on Parsons Blvd. in Flushing, Queens, when I am 8 years old. Love it!
Running 9:10 [4]
Okay, here are my intervals. I will say two things...(1) I was dry heaving after each of the 400s and (2) a guy on the track who was also running intervals asked if he could do one of my 400s with me and he had to stop after 3/4 of it. A small boost, but I'll take it.

Cycling 1:10:06 [3]
Yay, I finally took my bike off the trainer and set it free on the roads. First, I had to buy two new tires and tubes and replace those. I cleaned up the gears and chain, re-taped the handlebars and took off my tri-bars...I've decided I won't be doing any more triathlons. I can't like the swimming part!

I headed down to Fredericksburg Battlefield and did two loops of the road, about 20 miles. It was a glorious evening, with the beautiful Virginia summer early evening light shining over the battlefields. There were a lot of people out, enjoying the longest day of the year. I felt really good considering I haven't been out on the roads for a very long time.

Running (trail) 1:04:01 [3] 6.5 mi (9:51 / mi)
I spent the past 2.5 days in Basking Ridge, NJ, at a leadership meeting. It started at 7 each day, with evening activities at night, so there were no opportunities to work out. I was driving home today, trying to make a 5:00 dentist appointment, when it became quite apparent that I wasn't going to make it and I called to cancel. That meant I had the afternoon free, so I decided to stop at Susquehanna State Park to get in a run. I had never been to this park, but was always intrigued when I saw the signs on I-95. It was a nice enough park, with a trail right along the river. The beginning was on an old railroad track, so I had to be a little careful hopping from tie to tie, since I'm a bit on the clumsy side. At one point, I made an off-trail detour for a potty break, only to realize that I had just walked through a patch of stinging nettles, and now I was surrounded by stinging nettles, with no way out. :-( I just grit my teeth, ran back through them, and cursed them, out loud, the rest of the way down the trail. I got a few odd looks from other runners. Oh well.
