Cycling 1:00:00 [3]
Went down to the battlefield for a ride before the football game started. It was hot, hot, hot. Oh, and humid, too. So pleasant. But, I felt really good and was going faster than I have been lately, except I can't verify that because my computer wasn't working. I'll have to take a look and see if I can figure out what's wrong. There were two other women on the road, and we kept seeing each other as we were riding on this out and back route. I was calculating that I could catch one, and praying that I could hold the other off. I was successful with the former, and went screaming by her up a hill. That felt great. But, the other woman caught me towards the end. My one triumph over her, though, was that she stopped one parking lot short of the MMH (most massive hill) that requires getting out of your seat to get up it. I was parked in the lot *after* the hill.
Running 48:44
After being so encouraged by the Redskins' win, I decided to take the puppies for a run at PWF. It wasn't quite as hot as earlier today, but just as humid. We went on a new trail (for them), but it's the trail that goes along Quantico Creek for a bit. And all they wanted to do was go in to the creek. I have found that my arms are getting pretty buff from these runs, with all of the pulling and yanking.

Orienteering 1:29:19 [4] 8 km (11:10 / km)
QOC meet at Lake Accotink. Memory Yellow + Brown.

This event went through some very last minute changes. The Start/Finish area was completely submerged after a visit from Tropical Storm Hanna, so Sid had to do some last minute finagling to start from a different area and redesign all of the courses. Hence, Brown was the highest single course, and Green/Red/Blue were combinations of Memory Yellow, a line-O, or both.

The day was unbelievably humid and hot. I was dripping wet halfway through the Memory course, which was an interesting course. When I got to the start, I asked where the map piece was that showed S - #1. The guy at the start at no idea what I was talking about, so I went back to find Sid and ask him. He informed me that I had to memorize the entire 3.8 km course before going out! I laughed and said that I would copy the course on to my map, and treat each leg like a map snippet. And that worked just fine. Even once, when I got a little mixed up on trails, I didn't look at my map.

It was a good workout. Nothing too complex, which is really not possible in that long, skinny park. But, fun none the less.
