Orienteering race 1:38:18 [4] 7.13 km (13:48 / km) +353m 11:03 / km

Rainbow Falls, RMOC local event, Red course, 6.1 km 310m

I'm happy with my time, even though Sharon beat me by 2 minutes. This was a very hilly course and even with that, I was able to still be running at the end of the course. I walked up the hills, but was able to run almost all of the downhills and flats...unless the ground cover was too thick or messy. I had trouble on two controls, probably losing about those 2 minutes. I'll see what the splits say.

Cycling 1:57:26 [3] 27.3 mi (13.9 mph)

I decided to go for a ride out to and around Cherry Creek State Park. As I was getting ready, though, the skies to the southwest started to get darker and darker. But, as I've learned in my time here in Denver, just because it looks like the weather is about to open a can of whoopass on you, doesn't mean it's actually going to happen. So I started out, thinking that I might have to hide under a bridge or turn around early. Neither of which happened.

I was chasing the storm for most of my ride, feeling an occasional drop, but nothing too bad. I did have to stop in the park though, not for the weather but for the dreaded flat. Ugh! Luckily, I'm pretty good at changing tires, so it wasn't too long before I was back on the trail. The most disconcerting part of the stop was the lightning that kept flashing in the near distance.

And I saw two snowy egrets in Cherry Creek.

Note

Here's the rain I was riding into on my way back from the park. It doesn't look as ominous as it did from my bike!

Note

My hand is markedly better today. Still somewhat sore to the touch and slightly swollen, but definitely on the road to healing.

Core Conditioning 1:00:00 [3]

Barre class
11 AM

Running 32:24 intensity: (11:00 @2) + (21:24 @3) 2.68 mi (12:05 / mi) +120m 10:37 / mi

I had to go to Ikea this morning, so decided to check out Bluffs Regional Park. It was a nice open space, with beautiful views of downtown Denver and the Front Range. It was about the length of the Wash Park loop, but with some hills. I'll have to come back to this park, I liked it.

Yoga 1:15:00 [3]

Power Yoga class. It felt wonderful!

Note

I'm beginning to feel a little like Bash, with frequent, odd injuries. Today's edition is an injury to my hand. I was trying to pull apart two electrical cords that were plugged into each other, but were kind of stuck. So, I pulled really, really hard. Happily, they came apart. Not so happily, I was standing next to a snowboard that hadn't been put away for the summer yet, and the side of my hand slammed into the edge of the snowboard. No blood, but an immediate goose egg, some amount of swearing, and a baggie of ice. It still hurts...a lot. I'll see what it looks like in the morning.
