Core Conditioning 1:00:00 [3]

Barre class before heading out to Buena Vista for an orienteering weekend. It should be fun...the weather is finally beautiful.

Orienteering race 58:16 [4] 4.6 km (12:40 / km) +125m 11:09 / km

What a fun weekend of orienteering! It began with a night-O which went really well on several fronts, the most important of which was that I was not injured! I love night-O's, but considering how often I fall during the day, it's a little nerve wracking to go out in the dark, but all went well. I had a little trouble on the first control, and then it was fine after that. I thought I was moving pretty well, but Brooke beat me by a few minutes, so more work is needed.

Core Conditioning 1:00:00 [3]

Barre class with a new instructor. I had heard that she was good, but she wasn't really as tough as some others. On my way out of class, though, I saw another, new class going on in the other classroom...a Total Body Conditioning class that I used to take on Sunday mornings but stopped because that is really the only day I can sleep in. And it was the same instructor, who is really good. So, I think I'll switch out Wednesday barre class for the TBC class. Yay!

Note

No training today because I had Lead Ambassador training at the Botanic Gardens tonight. Before the class, though, I picked up my first delivery of the CSA I joined this year. It's through the Botanic Gardens, from their location down at Chatfield, and it's the first CSA I've ever joined. I just wanted to be forced to try new vegetables instead of always sticking with the safe ones. The first delivery was a little lackluster due to all of the rain we've been having...everything is a little slow to get going. So I got spinach, chives, oregano, and radishes. Maybe it will be a little more exciting next week.

Running 39:44 intensity: (18:00 @2) + (21:44 @3) 3.1 mi (12:49 / mi)

I worked in the garden all morning, and then did some grocery shopping for a Memorial Day BBQ, all in the remarkable sunshine that has been missing for the past 3 weeks. So, of course, when I was heading out to go running, the grey clouds moved in and the wind picked up. I thought that it might just pass north of the park, but that was not to be. I got rained on a little...not too bad. But the scary part was the lightning, especially when two bolts hit just overhead. And then I couldn't remember...should I hide under a tree? Should I stand in an open field? What is the correct lightning protocol??? Thankfully, I was not struck.
