Kayaking 30:00 [3]

Went for a little tour of the lake where one of the adventure races that I might do is going to be held. Plus, I wanted to make sure I could still kayak. And I can.

Orienteering 1:06:48 [3] 4.31 mi (15:30 / mi) +75m 14:42 / mi

I finally made it to one of QOC's Summer Sprint Series events. It was 4 loops -- 2 long and 2 short -- on the campus of Univ. of Maryland. Most people only did two loops - a long and a short. I thought it was tons of fun. I love sprint courses on campuses, even if I'm not sprinting. It was a tad hot, though. Many thanks to Boris and Alli for hosting this one.

When I got there, it was very confusing about where you could park. I found a parking lot where the sign said campus permit parking Monday - Friday, 7 am to 4 pm, so I thought it would be fine to park in there. The gates were open and everything. But, I got back to my car to find a $75 ticket. :-(

I went back to check the sign, and in very tiny print at the bottom, it said "teacher permit required all other times." Drat.

Mt. Biking 1:00:12 [3] 11.28 mi (11.2 mph) +23m

This was mt. biking only because I was riding a mt. bike. Otherwise, it was like a road ride. I pulled out my mt. bike because I'm contemplating doing a few adventure races this fall, and I thought it would be a good idea to test out my ride. And that was a good thing...as soon as I began I remembered that my front brakes weren't working from before. Not that I was doing much braking today, but now I know I need to take it in for a tune-up and brake job.
