After working in the yard for about 2 hours...snakes be damned...I went out for an early afternoon ride. Since it was a beeyootiful day, the trail was packed. I went towards Vienna today, and kept going. This direction is actually nicer, in some ways, than towards Leesburg. The road crossings are easier, which I appreciate.

The beginning of this run was a little messed up. As I passed a house on my street, a dog was running around in the front yard, and when he saw me, he started chasing me in a playful way. His owner called him back, but he kept running with me. So I stopped to give his owner time to get him, but she started walking back into her house! I started running again, and the dog was still running with me. After a little more, I thought "this is ridiculous" so I turned around and ran back towards their house. By then, the son had started running up the street, so I told him to turn around and start running home, and then the dog followed him. Sheesh!

Cycling 1:26:56 [3] 20.15 mi (13.9 mph) +134m

I had planned to ride yesterday after work, but on my way home, Marit asked me to come with her and Mom to look for a dress for Mom for my niece's wedding in September. Never a clothes horse, Mom is even more ornery now about shopping. But, when we got to the little boutique, the woman was so nice to Mom and picked out some very viable options, that I think Mom actually enjoyed herself. We didn't find anything, but now have some good ideas.

I'm pretty happy that I can hop on my bike and crank out a 20 mile ride pretty easily. In fact, the whole ride felt very smooth. I wouldn't say it was terribly speedy, but it didn't feel like it had been months since my last ride. And that made me happy.
