Note

It was a great sky-watching night while I was walking Annie. Venus was shining bright in the western sky, and I saw Betelgeuse in the Orion constellation. And the moon was nearly full.

Strength Training 30:00 [3]

Still not feeling tip-top. Worked out in the yard most of the day, getting ready for spring. And then a strength workout. That was enough.

Orienteering 1:27:54 [3] 7.87 km (11:10 / km) +155m 10:10 / km

I wasn't feeling 100% today, but decided to go to Wheaton anyway since I have missed the past few QOC events. It worked out okay because I knew there would be bathrooms along the way since it's in a pretty developed park. I even ran Green.

I messed up on #3. I went over the hill too far to the right and hit a reentrant with 2 controls in it. I was so proud of myself for not checking the lower control and just heading right for the one at the top of the reentrant, only to discover it wasn't mine!

I then missed on #4 because there seemed to be an extra trail that wasn't on the map. It shouldn't have thrown me since I was reading the contours, but it did.

I saw Peggy as she was heading to #8 and I was heading to #9, so my mini-goal was to get to #9 before she passed me. I did that, so I changed it to #10. Then to #11!! But between 11 and 12, I had to make a port-a-pottie stop and when I came out I saw her down by the ballfields heading to #12. And I never saw her again.

My last flub was to #13. Our #1 control was somewhat near to #13, and I headed to that control circle by mistake. As I was coming into the control, I was thinking, "That looks a lot like #1." And it was!

I couldn't run much from 13 to the finish, and had one more pottie stop along the way. I was glad I went to the event, but I hope I get better soon.
