Miscellaneous race (transition) 4:03:00 [0]

Sleep and transition time at Ocean Pond. Includes time for second set of maps, plotting, and checking.

Hiking race 8:47:00 [3] *** 22.0 mi (2.5 mph)
spiked:0/3c

Trek to three "swamp points" placed in the middle of (dry) swampy areas 600-1500 meters from possible attack points. LOTS of teams were unable to find any of the teams, a couple of teams did but were just lucky. This became a major point of contention later in the race.

We teamed up with Dirty Fish (who included Ron Eaglin from FLO) and Relentless at SP1. We attacked from two different direction, DF did those two and a third and we all came to the exact same spot multiple times - the right spot on the map, but no flag...

Finally we decided to bag the three points. Jay made the point that if we couldn't find the one 600m in, 1500m was out of hte question.

MTB (road) race 1:55:00 [3] *** 34.0 mi (17.7 mph)
spiked:1/1c

From east of Lake City to the upper part of the Suwanee River. Good cool evening with the wind at our backs.

Paddling (kayak) race 6:27:00 [3] ** 22.0 mi (3.4 mph)
spiked:2/2c

Nightime paddle down the Suwannee River. Lots of twists and turns, but a quarter moon and bright stars helped guide the way. Picked up two CPs and had a cold last half.
