Sunday Dec 30

Hiking (snow) 30:00 [2]
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2007, gray)
Messing around various places along the St. Croix. Time reduced since it wasn't a sustained effort, although some parts were in deep snow.

Saturday Dec 29

Road Run 1:10:00 [3] 9.0 mi (7:46 / mi)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2007, gray)
Nokomis to Harriet and back, with Brian's running club.

Thursday Dec 27

Ski (classic) 1:15:00 [3]
At Hiawatha with Brian and Val

Tuesday Dec 25

Ski (classic) 2:00:00 [3]
Went to WRSP for the day. No one there when we arrived. 2 one-hour sessions with lunch in the middle. It started to snow after lunch and got about 1-2 inches by the time I was finished.

Saturday Dec 22

Orienteering (course checking) 2:10:00 [3] 8.6 km (15:07 / km) +120m 14:08 / km
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2007, gray)
Checking points and taping for the Nerstrand event. Had about 3-4 inches of snow with some crust on the top from a short period of freezing rain.

As set now, 8.6 km is the straight-line optimal route. I've got a plan for adjusting if the snow is deeper by the time of the meet, but I don't want a lot of people being able to get them all in 90 minutes.

Thursday Dec 20

Trail Run 55:00 4.5 mi (12:13 / mi)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2007, gray)
Good hard trail/snow running at Battle Creek. Went off trail several times, and in some places it was almost easier since the snow wasn't packed so unevenly.
C • Sorry ... 1

Monday Dec 17

Road Run tempo 1:00:00 [3] 7.5 mi (7:59 / mi)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2007, gray)
Jerritt is right - it feels bad not to have anything in the log for the past 7 days! Did a late evening run down Summit - Fairview - Jefferson. Brought the watch to pace myself to 8:00. Fun looking at all the Christmas light displays on Summit.
C • Pillow, blankie and therma-raft 2

Sunday Dec 9

Ski (classic) 40:00 [3]
shoes: Alpina X-C ski boots
A couple of loops at Hartley Park in Duluth. A little cool but no wind.

Saturday Dec 8

Ski (classic) 1:00:00 [2]
shoes: Alpina X-C ski boots
First ski o' the year at Gooseberry Falls. About 8-12 inches of good snow.
Hiking 20:00 [2]
Hike a short way up the Cascade River.

Monday Dec 3

Note
(rest day)
My calves are sore from all the climb yesterday. Since there were a lot of flat areas, the slopes were relatively steeper than if the same amount of climb had been distributed over the entire 16K.

Sunday Dec 2

Orienteering race 2:03:58 [4] *** 15.8 km (7:51 / km) +510m 6:45 / km
spiked:28/32c shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2007, gray)
Possum Trot at Shawnee Mission Park. A fun fast run - tried to stay up with the 2nd pack but got peeled off the back going up and down the steep reentrants near #23. Caught up with Tom on the last section and skipped 32-33 for an easy finish.

Possum Trot - Splits

Saturday Dec 1

Event: Possum Trot Weekend

Orienteering race 33:33 [4] ** 4.66 km (7:12 / km) +50m 6:50 / km
spiked:11/13c shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2007, gray)
Moderately easy course at Woodridge Park outside of Lawrence. Navigated well but the tall grass fields were really draining. Kept up with Steven G for much of the course but had to let him go at the end.

Woodridge Park Long - Splits
