| Long sprint at Hyland to kick off the season. Fast running in open area, felt good and had only one (possible) mistake, in route choice.
Thanks Ian!

Other running around on the map. Spent most of my time inside at Jan's Place, though.

Off trail at Sibley. Visitor center over to Mt. Tom, cross country as the trails were unpacked and the road not plowed. Then around Little Mt. Tom and back.

Logged a little time for chugging to and from the walk-in campsites at Afton, while carrying a chair and a (full) backpack. Spent a nice evening with Mike, Julia, and Annie.

TNT at Katherine Abbott and Joy parks. With Ian, JJ, Babycakes and Waima. 30 min score at KA, had trouble seeing the blue tapes and spent at least 5 minutes just looking for them at the right feature. Grr. Oh, also a little rusty on the navigation - not good to be going south when you think you're going east.
| Trail Run 30:00 [2] | |

Jog to Joy Park from the ballfields at the south end of KA. (Includes return trip to Ian's house). Called it a trail run because there were few sidewalks and some sloppy snow.

9 controls in the gloaming (I love that word) on a contours only map. Strangely enough, it was easier to find the blue tapes in my headlamp than it was in the daytime. Open, fast park with lots of local relief which will be great for a sprint course (or two, or three.)

River Bottoms. Still mostly iced over, but the warm day kept a layer of slush/water on top that was runnable. Traction wasn't all that good, though.

Only trip of the year so far to Afton Alps. Not enough for a workout, but fun anyway.

First PQ specific training event of the year. Point-to-point map hike (about 20 points) at Afton with special emphasis on bouncing between the top and the bottom of the bluffs. According to the O-map, the route crossed 200 uphill contours, and it sure felt like it. My pack wasn't very heavy (started about 10 lbs), but I figured that was OK because of the 1-10 inches of snow, quite variable depending on the slope and exposure.
