Sunday Apr 22

Paddling (kayak) 3:45:00 [3] *** 8.5 mi (26:28 / mi)
spiked:4/4c
Putting out flags on the paddle section. A little slow because we were navigating to unmarked spots at night. Saw a barge in the distance.
MTB (road) 30:00 [3] ** 3.5 mi (8:34 / mi)
After deflating the boats and storing them in my car, we moved on to the trekking section.
Orienteering 1:45:00 [3] *** 7 km (15:00 / km)
spiked:6/6c shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2007, gray)
Trekking section with all off trail CPs. Brian did a good job navigating.
MTB (road) 3:30:00 [3] ** 38.0 mi (5:31 / mi) +500m 3:18 / km
spiked:4/4c
Long ride to finish the loop. It got really hot out and we had to stop along the way and grab some ice cream bars.
Note
About 1:30 of transition, rest time. A large part of that was packing up the boats.

Total of about 56 bike, 8-9 paddle, 5 trek in 13 hours. Strong wind at the beginning, died down in the middle (night) and up again in the last half.

Saturday Apr 21

Note
GH Inv pre run - 9 PM
Orienteering 2:00:00 [2] *** 11 km (10:55 / km)
spiked:13/13c shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2007, gray)
Setting out reflective tape for tonight's festivities.
MTB (road) 1:30:00 [3] ** 14.2 mi (6:19 / mi) +300m 3:42 / km
spiked:4/4c
Late start to the spring practice. Biked a bunch of hills down to the paddle put-in. Dave and Chris met us there with the boats. The wind died down at night and made for an impressive paddle section.

Friday Apr 20

MTB (road) 1:34:00 [3] 22.2 mi (4:14 / mi)
Gateway trail to McKnight to Battle Creek. Stopped to scout out a location along the creek.

The first part of the Gateway trail is a little sketchy. I biked past a drunk guy who saw me coming, got into a crouch and (really!) tried to tackle me while shouting obscenities. Luckily I was doing about 18 mph and he went for my leg and missed.

Thursday Apr 19

Orienteering 40:00 [3] ***
spiked:7/7c shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2007, gray)
Some CPs by memory at L Elmo (not the permanent course ones)

Wednesday Apr 18

Note
Boat your butt off - 6 PM Medicine Lake
Paddling (kayak) 1:00:00 [2]
Paddled around Medicine Lake with Rick in the new Wild kayaks. So much better than the yellow ones. People made fun of me beforehand for wearing the wetsuit, but not afterwards!

Tuesday Apr 17

Note
(rest day)
Tired today.

Monday Apr 16

MTB (technical) 1:30:00 [2] 9.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
Easy bike at Lake Elmo with Suzanne and Rick. Suzanne got her new bike yesterday and it was the first time with clipless pedals. She fell once on the grass while testing them out and then not at all while riding. Good for her!
