Orienteering race 59:24 [4] *** 6.6 km (9:00 / km) +85m 8:27 / km
spiked:10/13c

Course at Sand Dunes. Clean on 10 controls and moderate mistakes on three of them. I veered west from #12, went to 308 instead of 309 thinking is was the GO, and cruised off on the trail. I ended up having to run back through the start area and up a small hill to punch the correct one before backtracking to the finish. Not that much of a mistake time-wise, but still really stupid.

Raw splits were Map // 535 932 1431 2042 2655 3016 3252 3854 4151 4704 5101 5446 5756 // =5924 - but this is NOT precise as I missed the split at 1, and have to account for map copy time.

Scanned map and course analysis.

Running (trail) 45:00 [3]

Running around with the teams at the tune-up.

Hiking 45:00 [2]

Following teams at the tune-up.

MTB (technical) 58:20 [3] 10.8 mi (11.1 mph)

Multiple loops at Salem Hills. Nice and fast on a warm day with no wind.

Orienteering 1:05:00 [3] *** 6.6 km (9:51 / km)
spiked:32/42c

Control picking at Sunfish. That park has some great features but way too much undergrowth. There's a couple of areas where I think the trails aren't mapped exactly right.

MTB (road) 20:00 [2] 4.0 mi (12.0 mph)

From Moir Park to river bottoms, out to the USFWS sign (now gone), and back.

MTB (technical) 40:00 [3] 7.0 mi (10.5 mph)

River bottoms trail

Orienteering 56:00 [4] ** 7.5 km (7:28 / km) +150m 6:47 / km
spiked:17/17c

Nice OTNT in the Nine Mile Creek valley, set by Mike. We had to visit nine foot bridges, with at least one control touched in between each bridge. After all 9, we had the option to continue getting bridges (subject to the same rules) until the hour time limit was up. Good fast running, but all the bridges were in the creek valley (obviously) and most of the controls were way, way up. So lots of climb for this course. I went 4-3-2-1-5-6-7-8-9-8-7-6-5-4-2-1 for a total of 16 bridges.

MTB (road) 1:05:00 [3] 13.5 mi (12.5 mph) +220m

Checking bike course "on the ground". Strong continuous SE wind, hence the slow average. The original course was too long, so I had to shorten it. Don't want too much time taken up with the boring stuff.

Orienteering (mapping) 1:00:00 [2] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

More mapping work.

Hiking 30:00 [1] 1.0 mi (2.0 mph)

Checking out an SNA, followed by a short nap in the sun.
