Orienteering race 5:50:00 [2] 19.67 mi (17:48 / mi) +1006m 15:21 / mi

Things that went poorly.
1) Went to two mother controls and didn't know it. 36 ( someone else hit it with me and did say that the map and pen were on the other side) and 39, this one was all my fault. I think last year the maps and pens were hanging lower because several others missed seeing the maps.

2) I cut my route short because I thought I was moving slow. This meant that I was back at the finish with 40 minutes to spare. At that point I really regretted dropping 44, 45, 51, 50 and 53 since I passed within 250 meters of all 5 of them. I doubt I could have picked up all 5, but it would have made it more interesting.

3) Running a stick up my right nostril. Not only did it hurt, but it also coated everything with blood.

Things that went well.

1) Legs felt fine. I was afraid the 44+ miles at the snowgaine would leave me more drained. Feet were a different story, they were sore enough to get me to back off on many of the downhills.

2) New shoes. First time running outside in my La Sportiva c-lite 2.0. I don't like them as much as the Fireblades, but they have more traction. I will have to do some longer runs in them to see if they will work for 24 rogaines.

3) Spiked every control except 64 and 70. These errors were due to the vegetation pulling me off my heading. I think I attacked both from the worst possible direction, but I didn't think of attackpoint when I planned my route.
