Wasn't ready to run for 6 hours, being in the second day of a nasty cold wasn't helpful. Covered 14.3 miles in first 3:42 minutes while picking up 790 points. Covered 5.2 miles in next 1:54 while picking up 190 points. I thought I did alright on fuel and water. I think it just came down to a very limited number of training runs over 2 hours in the last 3 months.

I started dropping controls fairly early on the East side of the map. Legs felt ok, but I knew I wasn't holding the type of pace I needed to clear the East side and still get up to 70 and 78 on the west side.

After picking up 70 I turned around and headed in. I skipped 90 points in 10 pointers and mystery controls near the finish and decided to finish early. I regret giving up at the end as it would have moved me from 5th to 3rd overall.

For the most part the map was good for a rogaine map. I quickly decided to ignore all green in route choice since what I ran into didn't match anything on the map.

Still not sure why there were so many golf balls near 77 or why I chose to get control. Wasted tons of time and got ripped to shreds. Not sure if there was a good approach other than coming from the south.

Only took my compass out of my pocket once and that was leaving 62. Terrain kept pulling me south and I needed a firmer heading.

Poor Decisions:
67-69-66-68-61. I was going to drop 68 then changed my mind. My route added distance but most of it was on road or trail. Looking back 68 should come after 67.
79. Attacking and leaving! I simply didn't study the map well enough. I came in and left from the flood plain.
Pushing too hard after leaving 77. Covered the next 2.25 miles in under 22 minutes. I kept trying to drop people that would appear behind me and wanted to make up for lost time getting to 77.
