Running (Reading-Run) 51:09 [2]
slept:8.5 weight:178lbs shoes: Screwshoes -Brooks Adrenaline
First day of my attempts at improving on reading while running. Read 1 issue of science while running easy around firestone HS and back. Couldn't do it nearly as well or easily as I'd expected I could - only short glances at first before the bouncing made me lose my place, but could get more once I slowed down. Hopefully this is something I'll get better at.

Note
BREAK. After the homerun for the homeless (in which I didn't do as well as I'd hoped), I decided to focus on non-exercise for a month or so, catch up on all the things I had been letting slide. Only now did I get around to logging that.
Early on there was an element of despair, in that I didn't move to the next level of O-competitiveness this year, though I had expected to. Training was going well (volume and quality, on and off maps), and I felt good, but I continued to make too many and too big mistakes on the course. After this break, I need to figure out what the problem is. Some of it involves the broken compass problem I discovered this summer (and didn't really figure out until after the QOC meet), but that's not all. Some of it is inexperience and new terrain at a meets (and I definitely have improved performance at local meets). Some of it is my (gulp) now definitely decaying eyesight. Some of it is impatience. But there is definitely room for improvement in my navigation. I probably need to find a way to get some time with a good coach (Stan or Olga?), but not sure how to work that.
For now, I'm finally getting on top of some things that really had gotten away from me both at home and at school, and I'm trying to really enjoy the change of pace.
