Mainly a downhill course with 3 large downhills, one we were going 80+ km/hr. It was crazy!! Placed 4th/317 in Speed Men Breitensport, 2/40 in Speed Men Over 20. Really happy with the result and that I did not crash at a high speed!

Monday Jun 16

Note
Not as sore as I expected to be today. Only some general leg soreness mostly in the quads. Went for a short walk. Based on my previous marathons it seems like the longer you take the more sore you are the day after.

Sunday Jun 15

Event: Manitoba Marathon

Running race 3:32:37 [5]42.2 km (5:02 / km) +40m 5:01 / km vdot: 43.9
shoes: Asics Gel-Nimbus VIII
Great running conditions, +9 at the start, +12 at the finish and cloudy with sunny breaks the whole way. Passed Mile 1 in 7:40, which was a little fast, so I eased up a little. Continued to run under my planned pace of 8:01/mile. By Mile 21 I was 5:00-6:00 ahead of my planned pace. After this my pace slowed a lot and the gap between my planned pace and actual pace narrowed. Didn't finish as strong as last year, but that was expected given the faster pace I was running. Finished 5/34 in the 20-24 age group and 117/773 overall. I am very happy with the time as my goal was 3:30 and I beat my time from last year by 38:26. Now I know that qualifying for Boston is possible, just have to take 21:38 off my time!
