 | Skating 33:15 [4]11.08 km (3:00 / km) | |

| To Omands Creek, The Forks to the Norwood Bridge, Whittier Park and a side trip to the Exchange Dock. By my calculations the trail is now 8.72 km. long. Hundreds of people skating today, I guess that is what a new world record will do.

| This time I had to turn around at Dominion St. because they were flooding the trail, to The Forks, 11:50 (4.02 km.), Norwood Bridge, Esplanade Riel and back. Still some poor sections west of the Maryland Bridge, but it should be better with the new flood. -27, -30 with the wind. |
Tuesday Jan 22 |
 | Skating 54:29 [3]14.41 km (3:47 / km) | |

| The River Trail was flooded for the first time today from the Maryland Bridge to Omands Creek. Had to turn around just before Aubrey St. because the trail was not frozen yet, to The Forks, Norwood Bridge, Esplanade Riel, around The Forks Winter Park Trail and back, this time turning around at Garfield St. Slow going on the newly flooded sections because of poor conditions, air bubbles and bumpy. -23 when I went out;
-25, -34 with the wind at the end. |

| From the Mayland Bridge to The Forks, 13:10 (3.55 km.), to the Red River, but had to turn around because the trail had just been flooded for the first time and was soft. Around the Winter Park trail 5:30 (1.2 km.) and back along the River Trail 12:15 (3.55 km.) The longest maintained skating trail in the world is in the Peg! Unique to skate over the pedestrian Bridge at The Forks while people skate under on the Assiniboine River. |

| From just past the Maryland St. Bridge to The Forks. The ice was in fairly good condition considering the river trail just opened on Friday. A poor section between Hugo St. and the Osborne St. Bridge, it had not been flooded yet, although that part was not officially open. 8:59 (10:19 back) for the first 2.04 km. to the Osborne St. Bridge, 4:35 (5:28 back) for the next 1.49 km. to The Forks, around the Winter Park skating trail and back. The plan this year is to make this the world's largest naturally frozen ice surface in the world and get a new Guinness World Record. The trail will run between The Forks and Omands Creek on the Assiniboine River and The Forks and Whittier Park on the Red River, a distance of 8.5 km!
