Skating 34:40 [2]7.86 km (4:25 / km)
From just past the Maryland St. Bridge to The Forks. The ice was in fairly good condition considering the river trail just opened on Friday. A poor section between Hugo St. and the Osborne St. Bridge, it had not been flooded yet, although that part was not officially open. 8:59 (10:19 back) for the first 2.04 km. to the Osborne St. Bridge, 4:35 (5:28 back) for the next 1.49 km. to The Forks, around the Winter Park skating trail and back. The plan this year is to make this the world's largest naturally frozen ice surface in the world and get a new Guinness World Record. The trail will run between The Forks and Omands Creek on the Assiniboine River and The Forks and Whittier Park on the Red River, a distance of 8.5 km!

Along the River Trail to The Forks, across the Esplinade Riel, Norwood Bridge, Mayfair Ave., Harkness Ave., River Ave. and Wellington Cr. High of +3 today, +1 when I went out, crazy warm for Winnipeg in January! Soft snow on the sidewalks made for slow going at times, water on the roads. Average high temperature for this date is -11, low -19.
