I woke-up at 3:30 am. and walked to the start at Jiranakorn Stadium about 2 km. away. The race started at 5:00 am. and I started out at a comfortable pace, but I was not feeling particularly strong. A number of people passed me early on and I seemed to be struggling to maintain a somewhat slow pace. I took a gel at the 8 km. mark and carried on to the u-turn point. After the u-turn I felt stronger as I passed some other half marathon and marathon runners. I took a gel at the 16 km. mark and after that I felt like I increased my pace a little. It was great motivation passing hundreds of 10.5 km. runners when they joined the half course. I finished 5th/122 in the 30-34 age group and 32nd/1,088 overall. Not a good result, but I took home a 5th place trophy!
