Event: US Team Trials
Orienteering race 14:23 [5] 2.98 km (4:50 / km) +65m 4:21 / km
US Team Trials sprint - third. Pulled up short on 9 and then overshot 10. Otherwise a good run technically and physically. Looks as though being perfectly clean would have made a win barely possible but haven't yet looked at WinSplits for this one - it seems all but certain Michael, Hans and quite possibly others would have been still faster if perfectly clean.
Cycling 1:08:00 [3]
Commute in. Carried my tent and sleeping pad in aid of being ready to head to the airport on Thursday. Home by way of TPSS for groceries.
Orienteering race 1:13:08 [4]
West Point Day 2 Blue - a mediocre race with two attempts to navigate to the control after the next one that had to be aborted and an insufficiently careful attack on the third control from which I didn't recover well. Just barely remained in second place overall.
Event: West Point A-Meet
Orienteering race 1:07:52 [4] 7.48 km (9:04 / km) +430m 7:03 / km
West Point Day 1 Blue - a good race though I'm not so pleased with my route choices on 6 and 16. Also should have had a safer plan for 14 and should have stayed in closer map contact on the way to 15. Still, not losing any significant time to mistakes is a good race at West Point.
Orienteering race 13:04 [5] 2.2 km (5:56 / km) +60m 5:14 / km
West Point Sprint - a good sprint with some minor hesitations navigating around and under the barracks where the controls were packed tightly together - this was a challenge to read on the run. Tied for second with John F., both of us being handed another outrunning by Erin Schirm. Got a scrape on my back from the uphill edge of one building I chose to run under.
