Orienteering race 1:34:57 [4] 11.9 km (7:59 / km) +525m 6:32 / km

Chasing the Star long - 5th, despite not getting my act together until after the fifth control. Reactions seem to have been varied as to the enjoyability of this day but I had no complaints about the map or terrain (except possibly the decision to map boulders under 1 meter tall,)and I think the course made good use of them.

Feel perhaps surprisingly positive about the weekend given that I arguably underperformed on all three days. It may be Pollyana-ish of me but I was clearly in the hunt all three days - if I'd orienteered as well on all the controls in each race as I did on 90% of them, I'd have won or been very close each time. It's much easier to be, if not entirely satisfied with that then optimistic about competitions going forward than if I'd been well out of it.

Orienteering race 37:25 [4] 5.4 km (6:56 / km) +190m 5:54 / km

Chasing the Star middle - 7th, IIRC, two bad legs short of an excellent race though not quite, I think, one that would have put me ahead of Wil - probably more like slightly ahead of Eric, though I'll have a better idea after I examine the splits. Problem legs were the long leg to 9 on which I drifted and ended up at 10 before I found 9 and 15, on which I should either have ignored features in the terrain and relied on compass and pace or done a better job reading the map and anticipating what the terrain on the way to the control was going to look like. Another day of excellent terrain, map and course.

Orienteering race 20:22 [5] 3.49 km (5:50 / km) +83m 5:13 / km

Chasing the Star sprint - 4th, didn't read enough and got caught on wrong side of a wall which I had to run quite far to get around on 17, missed the right route choice here and there elsewhere (only twice, I believe, with much time lost). Very good urban sprint terrain and course.

Cycling 57:00 [3]

Cycling to work on slightly damp roads. Directly home on dry roads.

Running 16:25 [1]

Warmup/cooldown/rests.

Running 17:47 [5] 4.87 km (3:39 / km)

4x1217m intervals in 4:27, 4:28, 4:27 and 4:25. Felt a bit heavy-legged and sluggish, which shows in the times. Though at least I didn't slow down over the course of the workout - for me, this was fantastically even pacing. Not that I wouldn't rather be fast and uneven.
