Note

Masonic Veterans 10K? Teams of up to 10; first five runners score with at least one man and one woman in the first five. Biggest fall 10K in the DC area. Would like to field a QOC team but recruiting women and, for that matter, men may be a bit tough what with the orienteering schedule at Little Bennett - regular meet the same day and night-O the preceding evening.

Orienteering race 1:04:19 [4] 9.2 km (6:59 / km)

Little Bennett Blue - second to Eddie by slightly over 4 minutes. Maybe he had fresher legs - can't check since he no longer posts training. Another nice outing in generally very open woods. Could have executed more efficiently on a few legs with better rough compass technique but had no serious navigational problems.

Orienteering 25:00 [2]

Control pickup.

Hiking 4:00:00 [1]

A little bit more than four and a half hours of course setting at Avalon, discounted for the inevitable standing still. Also took GPS tracks on some of the more unmissable changes to the trail network - give me this winter to finish that and otherwise update the map and the next course setter working out of Avalon will have a vastly easier time designing White and Yellow courses. Very nice fall day in the woods - too bad the leaves likely won't be so lovely come the 23rd. And here's hoping there aren't too many ankle injuries from running over some of the more uneven footing in the terrain hidden by fallen leaves.

Orienteering race 56:28 [4] 7.6 km (7:26 / km)

Little Bennett Long Advanced Night-O - Sam did a good job of keeping us in nice woods so it was almost uniformly a very pleasant running experience. Went pretty easy on us technically for the most part, with few controls that couldn't be attacked from a road or track.
