Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Chicago orienteering club meet at Deer Grove. I did the yellow course, which is the second easiest course you can do. It was fun and I'm going to do it again.

Yoga class- we worked on hip openers. Hips are notorious storage spots on our bodies for bad gunk. This is probably why I woke up with a huge migraine this morning. Otherwise I feel pretty good. My foot feels pretty good after taking the day off essentially.

It was the last week of the session, which means a ball class, which means abs! And 10 people bouncing around a room on gigantic balls cracking wise and being silly. I flopped myself over the ball at one point and got a great stretch in my lower back, it felt great. My foot is also feeling better, FINALLY.

lower and a little bit of upper body on machines. I put 100lbs on the leg press machine today. A week ago I could only do 55lbs. I had forgotten how easy it is for me to build muscle in my legs. Now, my upper body is a different story.

Biked to Woodstock and back with Ben on my 1950's cruiser. It was an absolutely beautiful day. There are a lot of 'real' bikers that ride the flat country roads by us that go on forever. I got some looks from them as I passed on my bike. I can get that heavy old thing flying though, it's so much fun.

Ran on the treadmill to test out the foot. It started aching about a mile and a half in to the run. So, it's not quite there yet. I'm thinking another week or two of being a gym rat and then I can be released into the wild again.

Did legs again but Ben was there so I had to show off by putting 5 extra lbs on the barbell when I was doing squats. I'm pretty sure that doing squats with 60lbs on the barbell is what it takes to impress a guy, someone told me that once. Well, that and being able to make fart noises with your armpit.

I did the leg exercises with the barbell assist and 50lbs. That's right baby, I'm getting hardcore. I want a butt you can bounce quarters off of, or at least make people think that I run mountains at races. Nope, I'm from IL :)

Did the new yoga sampler dvd that I got in my Kashi cereal box. Massive Fail. It totally sucked, they went into poses way too fast, with no modifications for 'unfit' people. Cmon guys what kind of people do you think are doing a yoga dvd they got out of a cereal box? Not Gumby like yogis, that's for sure. It's this kind of crap that is peoples first introduction to yoga that scares them away.

After doing massive strength training all week my yoga instructor decided to help me out with my PTT injury and hip weakness by doing a class focused on strength. It was nice that she thought of me and wants to help me out. I really appreciate it. I need all the help I can get. My soul is dying without running.

Imagine Beethoven's Ode to Joy playing right now. yeah, that's about right. I ran on the road's with Ben and my foot hardly hurt at all. It felt a little achy but not too bad. I'm going to try to stay off it the rest of the day and see how it does.

Ran to and from the gym. My foot felt ok, not horrible, not great, ok. I tried to not push it. I think giving it some rest the next two days in WI will be good. Other than that my legs felt heavy as logs but being out in the sunshine and feeling the wind was amazing.
