a short loop at Levis Mound in BRF, WI. My hip was hurting the whole time and my socks had a hole in them and I wound up getting a nice hot spot so I cut it short. I love those trails so much. I wish I lived closer, or I could transport them to Marengo so I could run them more often. I might see if we can make it up one more time before Wasatch so I can get in a good run.

A good couple of hours spent on the awesome trails at Levis Mound. I ran really well. I ran all the way up Goat Dance. I didn't even realize I was at the top because I had remembered it being harder.

Pseudo progression run. The intention was there and I did run faster than normal. Everything was going great until the turn around and then my left hip siezed up on me suddenly and I had to slow down until it settled down. Then I had some, ahem, gi issues toward the end of the run which slowed me down. I still felt really good despite having a cold and it being a gazillion degrees out.

Ben and I went camping at Devils Lake in order to run the trails there. There is some wicked vertical there with stone steps going straight up two cliffs on either side of the lake. I ran about 3 loops around the lake to get my 4 hours that I wanted and trashed my quads pretty good by the end. It's been awhile since I have run myself to actual muscle failure. It was a lovely time and the weather cooperated by being overcast the whole time I was running and then clearing up just in time for me to jump in the lake. The only down side to running here was that they had paved all the trails with asphalt. Very odd. I'm not sure how to feel about it. It's just not natural.

I had thought for awhile that my legs were broken, that I had lost my running mojo for good, but it turns out it was just too stinking hot. It was overcast all day and the temperature dropped a ton this evening, which made for a pleasant run. So I pushed the pace a bit.

Marengo Ridge. I felt like I was running in molasses. Darn heat. Ironically, it's only slightly hotter at Badwater right now. I also had some sort of sore muscles on my bum. It put a little hitch in my giddyup.

River Rd/Collins/Deerpass loop. My garmin died at the beginning of the run so the mileage is a rough estimate, but it should be pretty close. It was hot, hot, hot and my legs were somewhat sore from the hills on the Nordic trail yesterday. It meant a slow crawl but a run is a run, is a run at this time of year.

Two loops at the Nordic trail. My new father in law was talking about how he's been taking gels every half hour on long runs lately and that it's been working really well for him. I tried it myself today. It felt like cheating, long runs are enjoyable again! On a sadder note, all the vegetation is on the verge of death. There were even giant oak trees that had fallen down simply because their wood is so weak because of the drought. Ugh, it's like running in the west, everything is brown. Stupid global warming.

incline treadmill hike. I started at 10% and worked my way up to 14%. I'm sympathetic to the Hardrock runners this weekend. It's actually a fairly strenuous workout to walk an incline like that.

Marengo Ridge. Started off by getting a warning for "speeding" by the conservation district police. I was going 36 in a 20. I explained to the cop that I was getting married in a couple days and that I my mind was somewhat preoccupied. He let me go with just a warning, thankfully. As far as the actual run went, it was hot and humid.

It's the kick off to Wedding Week! In anticipation of the great event I struggled through an incredibly hot and humid run and an old injury threatened to rear it ugly head again. I'll take what I can get this week though. I think going out for a run is going to be a struggle to fit in the schedule.
