Running (Speedwork) 1:13:00 [4] 9.0 mi (8:07 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Fast Twitch 4
Tempo run, 1 mile run to the gym, .5 mile warm up, then 6 miles at 7:30/m, .5 mi cool down, 1 mile run home. It's been awhile since I've done speedwork on the treadmill but I suppose I did it right because I couldn't really feel my legs and I wanted to pass out the last 1.5 miles. Oddly enough my PF didn't hurt all that much today. I have a couple theories about this. If anyone out there is reading this and wants to chime in with their opinion, please do.
Theory #1 - Since VT 100 I've been running slower and this means a slight change in gait and/or more heel striking which lead to my PF flare up.
Theory #2 - I'm wearing the same shoes too often and I need to change it up throughout the week to keep my feet happy. I've noticed that after races that if I keep on training in the same shoes that I raced in I get foot problems. After Ice Age 50 it was the balls of my feet, then after VT it was some tendinitis on the top of my foot, now the PF.
Theory #3 - I'm wearing the wrong shoes altogether. I've liked running in fairly minimalist shoes the last year since I feel like I can go much faster in them, but maybe it's putting too much strain on my calves which lead to the PF also.
Any thoughts?
