Running long (trails) 7:07:00 [3] 34.0 mi (12:34 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Stinson

Run on the IAT with Ben in the Northern Kettle State Park. We did an 8.5mi out and back twice from Greenbush rec area to Butler Lake. It was a beautiful section. If it weren't for the motherf*#!ing horseflies it might have been a perfect day. We went nice and slow, the goal of the day wasn't to see how fast we could cover the miles and get ourselves into all sorts of trouble. I wanted to try out my Sawtooth race pace. My legs felt great the whole time. Never tired, despite the constant rollers. I tried out some new stuff, Carbo pro mixed with nuun, a new hairstyle so my hair wouldn't turn into a giant knot, and my first really long run in the hokas. Everything was a success. Although I did get some awful chafing again, but that's another story. I know how to fix it.

I thought that I would run early to beat the heat but it turns out that it never really cooled down last night anyway. You know that sick to your stomach feeling that you get at about mile 70 of a 100mi race? That happened about 3 miles into my run today. I had plenty of water, it was just sloshing around in my stomach for most of the run though. Ah, I love summer!

Running (trails) 52:00 [3] 5.0 mi (10:24 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Stinson

Group run at the VA. It was a pretty good turn out and I felt really good. I bombed on all the downhills like old times.

Running (roads) 1:47:00 [3] 11.2 mi (9:33 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Kinvara

Deerpass/Collins route. This heat is really making the varicose veins in my legs go crazy so I broke down and wore my calf sleeves today. They weren't unpleasant to wear, and I think that they helped with the pain in my achilles.

It's like a really moist oven outside. Every run is feeling better and better.
