Old Cedar Avenue Bridge
10:01 AM; Minnesota River Bottoms

9.1 °C; Chance of rain
Wanted to check out the newly repaired Old Cedar Ave Bridge after being done meeting our accountant for taxes 2018. First thing she did when she met me at her door was look at my shoes and pants, saying "You're not wearing your running clothes." Indeed, it was just a quick one, flooding prevented a longer walk. I chatted with a birder, who was just returning to his car when we arrived. He said that earlier in the week, the water was going over the bridge and a walker had disregarde fence, signs and water and been swept away. Fortunately, she was able to call for help on her mobile. We disregarded fence and sign but there was no more water going over the bridge. Short but good exploratory walk!

Como Golf Course
12:20 PM; Hamline Midway/Como Park

9.8 °C; Cloudy
No Mellie, she decided to call it a day after this morning's short excursion at the Old Cedar Ave Bridge. Instead we had Karl for company. Roux thoroughly enjoyed his off leash time. Most of the ice and snow is gone from Como Golf Course, even the Glacier. As usual, the pump is running to keep the pond in the southern "Glacier" portion of the golf course from getting out of hand. I figured that this portion of the area must be below the level of Como Lake. For the heck of it, I checked the MN DNR's LIDAR map, sure enough, there would be a sizable lake if the level would be the same as that of Como Lake, with another one N of the club house. Enjoyable walk.
