Snow and wet pavement was one factor but the wind was so strong almost blew me off the bike. So train it was.

Boldly riding bike in shorts and with just a single thermal tee and reflective vest. Not a problem. A cloud-veiled moon high overhead, as Earth's rotation overtakes the the lunar orbit.

With a decent headwind and under time pressure I picked what I think must be the shortest possible rout that has as little traffic as possible. Still took me 31 minutes.

Tired legs from yesterday's hill workout, taking it easy. Colder, too, cars parked outside had frost. A quiet ride.
One gripe, that applies to all other mornings: cyclists with super bright headlights that seem to aim right for my eyes. This is the one thing that sours commuting in the dark for me. When I first noticed this, I checked my own lights for orientation and brightness to make sure I wasn't an offender, too. It seems such a basic thing to fix and in most urban riding situations, it is not necessary to use a bike light's super bright settings. Must be that these riders think that "darn it, I spent $100 (or more) on this light and I'm gonna use it to the fullest, too!"

Pretty decent headwind, it was rather a struggle today. Other than that another unseasonably warm ride home.

Nice hike until Roux came upon a pesky rabbit. He could not let go and kept working the bushes. Took about three minutes to come. Tomorrow, it's the training collar ...

Coffee run to Dun Bros. We seem to be using more beans as the cold season begins. Rode the segment from Dunn's to work without photo stops for the first time to get a more realistic idea of the length of this route. under 40 minutes for a moderately fast ride. Slowdowns are for various traffic lights along Summit and the short stretch on Cretin where I always seem to have to stop. There is the hill climbing out of the river valley but that is relatively short. Very nice ride.

Hard hill bounding workout with the Tuesday night intensity group. Bummer, I forgot to turn my HRM on, estimating the average and high based on similar workouts from the last few weeks. From bottom of the A climb to the top, then towards to downhill. Times eight. Recovery during the downhill. Happy I am still able to do this.

Super moon morning, super bright when I took my perimeter patrol around the premises (of our St. Paul city lot on a corner) and fat and yellow by the time I left. Stopped on top of the campus connector bridge between Energy Park Dr and Como Ave to try taking a pic, we will see how this turns out. Need to really take these photos with my SLR, but that is a lot to lug around. Then hurried to ctch up to the guy who passed me while I was stopped and otherwise kept the tempo up till I was thwarted by a red light at Hennepin and 11th.

Starting to walk in the dark now after work. Tried out the blinky lights on the dogs which I got about a year ago. Promptly got a compliment from a guy whose on leash lab my off leash guys accosted (in a very friendly and well behaved way, I must say). They came back immediately when I called.

Did the walk that seems to be getting to be the new normal. Did a new variation near the SF landscaping lot, following the drainage ditch and repeated the new variation from yesterday, cutting through the bushes along the track near Lexington. good morning to be out.
