Onion to Sioux River

Nice walk, mostly on the lake ice. On the way to the Sioux, there was still a thin snow cover on the ice, on the way back, it had started to melt. Spent the rest of the morning ice fishing with friend Craig, there was standing water on the ice by the time we finished around noon. A rare treat, or rather a first: was able to cross the ice on the Sioux River slough and explored the short stretch of the railroad grade between the slough and the main channel of the Sioux, which had open water.
Also noteworthy: lil' Roux tore off a toe nail on his front paw. I notice yesterday evening that it was standing off at a right angle from his paw and he was in obvious pain. It must have happened yesterday morning when he sped after a rabbit and crossed the coarse rocks of the railroad bed. When I checked this morning, it was gone, leaving only a bloody stump. He was in some discomfort during our walk but mostly happy to be out. Drenched in sweat due to the warm temps.

Nice early morning hike with dogs. Working from home this morning before mid-PM departure to Lake Superior. Won't be able to participate in the Book Across the Bay but I be damned if I don't attend the after event party! Looking forward to a couple of quiet days on the shores of the big lake!

Got a call from my doctor about MRI results so chatted with her pretty much the entire way home. This is what she said in her write-up which I can access online: "You have a full thickness tear of one of the rotator cuff tendons that likely needs surgery just because of your level of activity. I will put in a surgical consult." I guess it could be worse, but it could be better, too ...

More of a run than a walk this morning, hurrying to catch the train. Nice that it's so predictable, I caught it!

Came from Regions Hospital where I had my MRI for the shoulder. Now the agony of waiting for discussing results with my MD. Friday. Saw the train depart when I stepped ou the door and took a nice walk across the grounds in front of the Capitol. Odd arriving at Westbound Hamline station, I always take the train to Mpls at Hamline and exit the train home at Snelling. Brisk walk and jog with the pooches. The wind was creating some chill, the sidewalk puddles were icing up in spite of the mild temps.

Good walk. Crossed a wetland channel on the ice to cut off an unpleasant walk across an iced over parking lot. Had a minor slip on an icy spot and jerked my arms reflexively, boy that hurt in my shoulder. Noticing the main pain seems to be at on the thumb side closer to my biceps muscle.
