Getting reacquainted with my city walks. Today, I had just Roux, we walked along McMurray Field, Animal Control (watch out, Roux!) and Hmong College Prep Academy. There seems to be some serious $$, behind the latter. More buildings are going up. It seems odd to me to see construction go up wall by wall standing four floors high without being attached even at the corners, just by some flimsy looking braces. Nice, war weather and bright sunshine.

First walk here since Jan 3, with both dogs. Mellie still hanging in there, I avoided snow cover because of having her along.

Only three weeks since last time, during the grimmest time of winter. As expected, not much action, just three visitors captured: bobcat, coyote and deer. And a chickadee in three frames on the video camera.

With near tropical temperatures hovering around 0 °C, we took our first walk in two weeks, not counting the 800 m I logged to collect trail cam data. Noted the pressure ride that appeared all along the beach. In some places, there is standing water, in other places slush under the snow cover. Other places have dry snow on ice, I am cautiously optimistic that I'll be able to have a lake ski some time this week.

So glad I did my Virtual Birkie yesterday. An easy 5 °C warmer, temps hovering around 0 °C. I am tired and Roux seemed too warm. But it was fun anyway. Got a little tangled at the start, the snap tackle I use for the security release is a cheapo one, sometimes it's hard do open. I never had an emergency need to use it but it's handy in situations like having the lead between your legs. We saw a few dogs, today. In the parking lot, there was a golden retriever, another one on the trail. Roux made friends with both. There were also two dogs we crossed or passed on the trail. The crossing was early on, I just roped Roux in and we moved past. The other one was a poodle which we passed at high speed, with a skate skier coming towards us. I think Roux was confused on whom he should bite, the poodle, the poodle's owner or the skate skier, so he bit none.
