Brown's Creek Classic LSD

Starting in Stillwater, Karl and I roller skied to Pine Point. Some icy spots on Brown's Creek Trail, including a few frozen in ruts and frozen moisture pretty much the entire way up to the intersection with the Gateway Trail. More debris on the Gateway, I had three minor spills, all with my left ski being stopped by a small piece of wood. On the way back, much of the moisture had thawed and the some of it had evaporated. Of course, no such luck with the debris.

Big Rivers Skate Roller Ski Workout

Nice roller ski workout on Big Rivers Trail. We noticed these crosses on the pavement and thought of reasons why they might be there. Checked in with Dave and also the Dakota County crew that checks trail conditions every day. Both thought that they were foot race related but their distance appeared random to us. And I doubt running race organizers would drive a metal spike into the pavement. Karl and I were leaning the possibility this being a marker for locations to set up a theodolite or similar to track for movement of the trail on the section between Lilydale and Mendota with ground of questionable stability. We also to checked progress on the Big Rivers Overlook trail house, looks like at least the exterior part is almost done. They were just putting on siding.

EU MYR Hill Bounding 5 x 5:00 L4, 5 x 00:30 Sprints

Arrived 10 minutes early, did a pre-warm-up pole hike with Karl. After the warm-up, 5 x 5:00 L4, 3 times along Winthrop and two times on the A climb. Followed by 5 sprints up the steep hill on the very top of the A climb. Very nice and productive workout.
