Start on Cite des Jeunes 3 km down the road from La Cabane..
We had an ambitious route plan (for 25 of the 30 controls) which we followed with no errors or hesitations ...we just ran out of steam near the end causing us to reconsider our plan and get 17 controls....in hindsight we might have been able to chose a better ending combo but who knows...it all would have been predicated on getting back under 3 hr.
We came 4th in the Co-ed...off the podium by ~50 points...but it was great fun ...beautiful day in the woods despite the dire predictions earlier in the week...Love doing these with Colleen
Three cold weather mechanical things I experimented with worked really well despite the lack of need for it:
1. SI on a shock cord around my neck
2. Thumpass : replaced the stretchy strap with velcro for bigger overmitts cutting off my finger circulation
3. Garmin (and whistle) on my back pack strap...very liberating..never looked at it ....checked course time/distance less frequently with the oldschool watch I forgot to takeoff
Andrew did the 3hr solo and came 2nd to Rorry...picked up a few ideas from his route
