Road bike 2:35:00 [2] 38.0 mi (4:05 / mi)
(injured)

Achilles pretty good this morning, so confident that it's heading in the right direction. Looking at yesterday's splits made me realise that I've lost quite a bit of fitness since I had flu back in March. I've not been able to run as much as I'd like due to the Achilles, but I've been lazy about finding alternatives. Hence I got my road bike out: Holmfirth, Greenfield, Denshaw, Buckstones, Huddersfield, home. Seem to have strained something on the inside of my right thigh. Hopefully it won't affect my running.

Orienteering race 30:43 [4] 3.0 mi (10:14 / mi)
(injured)

British Middle Distance champs, Stanton Moor. M45, 4.0km, 170m.
Scrappy sort of run; never settled into any sort of routine, loosing small amounts of time on most of the short technical legs. Worst miss was no 8 where I didn't climb quite enough. Still, I came 4th, 3 mins behind 3rd, so couldn't have improved my position at all. James too quick as usual and much better orienteering from both Bill and Mark.
Ran in old Jalas O shoes with orthotics. Achilles wasn't too bad until the end section where speed was required. Seems OK immediately afterwards, but we'll see in the morning. Ice.
3x10 heel raises. Stretching and more ice.

(injured) (rest day)

Spectating at the British Sprints. Walked round qualification race and the C Final. Stretching and ice when I got home.

Trail running 42:00 [3] 5.0 mi (8:24 / mi)
(injured)

Yateholme circuit, now with orthotics in my trainers. Achilles much better than Wednesday and right foot better too. Right calf stiffened up and so eased right back for the last 2 miles. I suppose trying to alter my running style is bound to have knock-on effects. Ice on all sore bits afterwards.
3x10 heel raises.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Achilles slightly niggly again first thing. Better after some stretching.
3x10 heel raises.

Trail running 26:00 [3] 3.0 mi (8:40 / mi)
(injured)

Digley. Achilles sore but no worse after than before. Perhaps more worrying is that the pain in my right foot (opposite side to Achilles) has returned. This is the pain in the big toe joint and was the main reason I resorted to orthotics a few years ago. Maybe this is as a result of my new running style; landing more on the balls of my feet rather than the heel? Whatever, I've decided that I'll try running in the orthotics for a while. It may also help with the Achilles.
Stretching, self frictions to achilles and ice.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Achilles still slightly niggly again first thing. Plan is to run alternate days this week, sit out the British Sprints and run the Middles on Sunday. To that end, I've decided that today needs to be another recovery day so that I can then run Wed, Fri and Sunday (hopefully).
More stretching. 3x10 heel raises. Ice.
