October Odyssey day 2. Slaley Hall Estate SW.
Brown course (M50), 4.9km, 110m.
Not the Slaley that I remember. Pleasant enough burn up around a few blocks of wood interspersed with fields.

October Odyssey day1. Simonside NW.
Short Brown course (M50), 7.2km, 210m.
Tougher and rougher than i remembered. Nice loop in the light green to start then onto the moor. Some areas of the moor were hard to make any progress: deep heather and bracken over horrendous tussocks. Downhill finish through some tough forest.
I missed #4 quite badly (-4 mins) put off by the unmapped windblow. Otherwise ok although I am sure there must have been a quicker route for the long leg.
Edit: splits suggest i lost 4 or 5 mins on the long leg. I gather that the undergrowth 'walk' hatching right of the line was actually faster going than the 'slow run' undergrowth i went through. Pretty random.

Easy jog up the hill to the start. Too knackered to do a proper warm down. Body feeling battered. Slightly worried about my Achilles.

Excursion onto Bleaklow from the Longdendale tunnel entrance. Longdendale trail to Lady Cross then Derwent watershed to Bleaklow Head. Back down Near Black Clough.
Trod along the watershed very difficult to follow now that it's so green up there. Only people I saw were two guys operating excavators in the middle of nowhere.
