Road bike 1:00:00 [1] 8.5 mi (7:04 / mi)

Calf not up for a run so decided to join Lulu on the Holmfirth CC club ride. She determined that we would go with the slow group. It was ridiculous. Re-groups every mile and one bloke was even on an electric bike. Cafe stop after 8.5 miles, just after Lulu had fallen off. At least it got me out of the house on a grim January morning.
11 AM

Road bike 1:15:00 [2] 17.5 mi (4:17 / mi)

Janet came to pick up Lulu from the cafe which gave me the excuse to abandon the group. Home from Marsden over Standedge and back over Saddleworth Moor. Grim but at least I'm not racing the entire Pennine Way.

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]

Didn't fancy the icy roads so another go on Lulu's turbo. Followed a 1 hour session I found on the Internet. Didn't understand what I was meant to be doing but at least it kept me on the bike for an hour with an honest effort.
6 PM

Orienteering race 54:33 [3] 4.5 mi (12:07 / mi)
shoes: Innov8 X-Talon (3)

AIRE Night event, Bingley St Ives.
Long course, 5.3km, 225m.
Trying 1 contact lens again. L calf sore from early on so not pushing too hard. Struggled with a few controls which seemed a bit bingo like (#4, #5 and #14). Also badly caught out by the sneaky (for a ISOM map) last control on an underpass.
Still running at the end so calf can't be too bad. Hopefully just cramping which Richard can sort out on Thursday.
Two big positives. Contact lens worked well and a couple of accurate bearings with my thumb compass.

Note

Golf with Andy, Mick and Roy. 15 holes in filthy weather but proper greens. 31 Stableford points.
2 PM

Road running 45:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 1080v4

Abortive attempt at intervals. 2 mile warm up then 2 x 4 mins at tempo. Lower right calf tightened up towards the end of the second effort so jogged home.
I think I need to get Richard working on my right leg.
3 PM

Cycling 25:00 [2]

Trying out Lulu's new turbo. 10 mins warm up, 2 x 4 mins effort (2 mins ), 5 mins warm down. Decent training if you're honest but need something to relieve the boredom.
